About Us

Experience Art

The Stellenbosch Arts Association came into existence on 29 March 2006.  It originated from the Artist’s Circle of Stellenbosch to form a new association catering for the needs of not only artists, but also that of non-artists from all over the Winelands interested in visual arts.

Our Aim

As a non-profit organization the income and assets of the association are applied solely for investment in and for the promotion of its aims and objectives.

Members’ Exhibitions

There are two annual members’ exhibitions. The first one takes place in July at the Hofmeyr Hall in Church Street, Stellenbosch. The second exhibition is the mini exhibition that is held near the end of the year in the PJ Olivier Centre.

Talks & Excursions

There are a few talks held during the year. The speakers are artists or art experts. If you have an interesting topic that you would like to know more about, please let us know. We’d like to keep the talks interesting and engaging for our members.

Workshops

We’ve had a range of workshops, such as a sculpture class by Marieke Prinsloo, watercolour courses and much more. Please inform us if there’s a workshop you would like us to host and we’ll try our best to organise it.

Discounts

We have an agreement with certain art supply stores to provide discount for our members. All you need to do, is to show your Art Association membership card when paying for your art supplies.

Residence in Cité Internationale Des Arts

Residence for artists in one of the three studios in the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris, France. Members may apply through SANAVA for a sojourn of two to three months.

Exhibitions and Competitions

Invitations to national and international exhibitions and competitions, including the annual Absa L’Atelier and the Sasol New Signatures.  Transport to Pretoria is sponsored for artworks selected for the Sasol New Signatures exhibition and Absa sponsors the transport of works for the L’Atelier exhibition, which takes place in Johannesburg.

Museum Card

Members may apply annually for an International Association of Arts membership card offering members of Stellenbosch Arts Association free or discounted access to international galleries and museums.
